Finding a song

Type into the search box on the submit screen and pick from the results. Search covers the full catalogue and does not need you to be signed in to any music service.

Tap the play button on a result to hear a thirty second preview before you commit. Some tracks have no preview available, and those rows show no play button.

Pasting a YouTube link

When the league allows it, you can paste a YouTube link into the same box instead of searching. The app reads the video, suggests a song and artist name from the title, and lets you correct both before submitting.

Some videos are rejected: live streams, playlists, channels, private videos, videos blocked in your region, and videos the owner has stopped from playing outside YouTube. The app tells you which of those applies.

A song submitted this way does not go into the round's Spotify or YouTube Music playlist. Voters reach it through a link on the voting card instead.

How many tracks

Most leagues ask for one song a round. Some ask for up to five.

If your league asks for more than one, send all of them. A part finished submission is deleted when the phase closes, so four songs out of five scores exactly the same as none.

Saying something about your pick

You can attach a note of up to 1000 characters explaining why you chose the song. It appears with your track on the results screen once the round is over.

Some leagues hide these until voting closes, so the note cannot sway the vote. Some turn them off entirely.

What you cannot submit

One rule is always on: a song can only be taken once per round, by anyone. If somebody got there first, you need a different song. In a league asking for several tracks, that also stops you submitting the same song twice yourself.

The rest depend on the league. One artist per round stops two songs in the same round sharing an artist. Lineage protection stops a song being used again if it appeared in an earlier round of this league. Crew lineage protection is wider still and covers every league in the crew.

The app matches songs across services, so re-submitting the same recording from a different source does not get around any of this.

Why a search result is greyed out

Search results you cannot use are shown greyed with the reason attached, rather than being hidden. Reasons include having already picked it, it having been used in an earlier round, it having been used elsewhere in the crew, or its artist already being in this round.

Songs other people have submitted this round are deliberately not greyed. Marking them would let anyone work out the whole round by typing candidates into the box, so those only fail when you try to submit.

Changing your mind

You can change your submission as long as the submission phase is still open. Once it closes the songs are locked, the playlists are built, and nothing can move.
