Every BandJam term, and where it is explained in full.
- Admin
- The person who created a league. There is one, and they can change anything about it including the roster.

- Ballot
- Your finished set of votes for a round. Only a finalized ballot counts for anything.

- Best Friend
- The second leaderboard, ranked by how many submitters you correctly guessed.
Also called: best friend standings, detective
- Bucket league
- A crew league that draws each theme at random from the crew's theme bucket instead of using a list set up front.

- Category bank
- A searchable set of 95 ready made round themes you can pull from when creating a league.

- Commissioner
- A member promoted to help run the rounds. They can manage rounds and nudge people but cannot change league settings or the roster.

- Crew
- A group that carries on between seasons, with its own chat, invite code and shared pool of theme ideas.

- Downvote
- A negative vote. Each voter gets a fixed number per round, and a league can set that to zero.

- Fast forward
- Ending the current phase of a scheduled round immediately, with a choice about what happens to the rest of the season.

- Finalize
- Locking in your votes for a round. Until you do, nothing you have selected counts.

- Hollow round
- A round nobody completed a submission for. It skips voting and completes straight away.
Also called: empty round
- Invite code
- An eight character code in the form ABCD-EFGH that gets you into a league or crew.
Also called: join code, league code
- Lineage protection
- A rule blocking a song that has already been used. At league level it covers earlier rounds of that league. At crew level it covers every league in the crew.

- Listening phase
- A gap in a scheduled round between submissions closing and voting opening, so people have time to play the playlist properly.

- @unsubmitted
- A chat mention, for admins and commissioners only, that names exactly the people the round is still waiting on. It knows the phase: people who owe a song during submissions, people who owe a ballot during voting.

- @here
- A chat mention that notifies every member of the league, whatever their message notification settings.

- Mention
- Naming someone in chat with @, which notifies them even if they have every-message notifications switched off. Resolved when the message is sent, so everyone reading it sees the same people named.

- Net score
- A song's upvotes minus its downvotes. This is what a song scores and what your budget is measured against.

- Nudge
- A notification an admin or commissioner sends to one person who has not submitted or voted. Limited to once every twelve hours per person per league.

- Pacing mode
- Whether a league waits for people (Standard) or runs on the clock (Scheduled). Chosen at creation and never changeable.

- Per track cap
- The most of your vote budget that can land on any single song.

- Required tracks
- How many songs each person submits per round, from one to five. Sending in fewer than the full number counts as none.

- Round
- One theme, played through submission, voting and results.
Also called: rounds
- Scheduled league
- A league that starts itself and moves every phase on the clock, whether or not everybody has finished.
Also called: scheduled mode
- Standard league
- A league the admin starts by hand, where each phase ends as soon as everyone is done or the deadline arrives.

- Submission
- A song you entered into a round, with an optional note about why you picked it.

- Template
- A saved copy of a league's setup, kept privately on your own account so you can run something similar again.

- Theme
- The brief for a round. Usually a sentence, and in private and crew leagues it can be a photo instead.

- Theme bucket
- A crew's shared pool of round ideas, which any crew member can add to at any time.

- Tiebreak
- The order the app works through when two people are level: points, then fewest downvotes, then best round, then correct guesses.

- Upvote
- A positive vote. Your upvote budget must be spent in full before a ballot can be finalized.
