League Templates

Saving a league's setup so you can run it again

What a template is

A template is a saved copy of a league's setup: its rules, its settings and optionally its themes. It belongs to you, not to the league or the crew, and nobody else sees it.

Save one from Quick Actions on a league you liked, then use it as the starting point next season.

What it saves

Phase lengths, vote budgets and per track caps, required tracks, the deadline time of day, whether it was public, the roster cap, and every rule switch: one artist per round, lineage protection, hidden themes, hidden results, hidden and disabled comments, optional downvotes.

It saves the pacing mode and, for a scheduled league, the cadence. It can optionally save the themes, including their photos, which are copied into the new league when you use it.

What it leaves out

The description, the crew it belonged to, whether YouTube links were allowed, whether easier guessing was on, and all of the bucket settings. Set those again on the new league.

It also holds no actual dates. A scheduled template saves the rhythm, not the calendar, so a template made months ago still produces a sensible league. You pick the start date fresh each time.

Using one

Pick a template when you create a league and everything it saved is filled in for you. You can change anything before you create.

If the league a theme photo came from has since been deleted, the new league is created without that photo rather than failing.

What cannot be saved

Bucket leagues cannot be saved as a template. A template would freeze the themes it happened to have drawn, which is the opposite of what a bucket league is for, so the option is not offered.

You can still use a template to create a bucket league. The rules carry across and the saved themes are ignored, because the bucket supplies those.
