Playlists and Music Services

Spotify

When submissions close, the round's songs are gathered into a Spotify playlist automatically. A button on the round opens it, and it opens inside the Spotify app if you have it installed.

You do not need a Spotify account and there is nothing to connect. The playlist is made on BandJam's side and shared with everyone.

YouTube Music

The same round is also gathered into a YouTube Music playlist, again with nothing to connect and no account needed.

Apple Music

Apple Music works differently, because Apple does not allow a shared playlist to be built the way the other two are. Instead the app builds the playlist into your own library, on your own device.

It is available on iPhone and iPad only. You need an active Apple Music subscription and Sync Library switched on in your iOS settings. If the playlist fails, those two are almost always the cause.

It is not available on Android, and not in the Mac version of the app. Open BandJam on an iPhone or iPad to build it, or use Spotify or YouTube Music instead.

Song previews

Thirty second previews play on the voting screen and in search results, one at a time. On iPhone they work with the silent switch on, and your own music ducks rather than stopping.

Not every song has a preview, and a preview occasionally fails to load. Neither affects the round.

What does not reach a playlist

Songs submitted as YouTube links do not go into the Spotify or YouTube Music playlists. They are reachable from a link on the voting card, and during a listening phase they are also listed under the playlist buttons.

That list is sorted by song title, not by who submitted them, so the order gives nothing away.

A round where everybody used a YouTube link produces no playlist at all rather than an empty one.
